There are certain upload guidelines we suggest you follow to ensure that we approve your items and that our customers find them useful.

VIDEO

Our video category has multiple sub-categories

Stock Animation

Generally, stock animation items are transparent and loopable to provide the best customer experience. This is not a requirement though and there are exceptions to this, such as full frame scenes for example or animations that just cannot be looped seamlessly, due to the nature of it.

Guidelines:

• duration: min 5s, max 60s
• max file size 2GB
• formats accepted: .mp4 and .mov
• encoders accepted: H264, ProRes 422 and ProRes 4444
• encoders not allowed: PNG, Animation, AVI, WMV, MKV, HEVC, etc.
• for transparent items with alpha channel, we only accept ProRes 4444 (we will reject PNG encoders). This is the new industry standard widely compatible with most software. PNG is obsolete and not supported by Apple and many video editing software.

Motion Graphics

Depending on the item, it is recommended to provide transparent items where possible (such as a 3D item or a smoke element, for example). Other elements such as motion background loops are clearly not supposed to be transparent. Use your best judgement based on the item and think about the end user.

Green Screen

Green screen items are by nature not transparent. Also make sure to not include green elements in your clips, as those will be removed during the chroma keying process, making the item useless for the customer. If your item has green elements, feel free to use another background color, such as blue for example.

GIF

We offer the ability to upload to the Stock GIFs category directly if you prefer, but we recommend something else instead.

Because all GIF items are originally video, we suggest you first upload them to the Stock Animation video category. Once approved, you can bulk select your items and convert them to GIFs in the Stock GIFs category with a few clicks. This provides more options for customers to pick your animation based on their needs (video editing or doing a PowerPoint presentation for example) and gives you more chances of making a sale.

We highly recommend you provide transparent items.

To upload to the GIF category directly, here are the guidelines:

• you can only upload video files, not .gif (GIF is already heavily compressed, so we prefer to do the processing on our platform instead).
• duration: min 5s, max 15s (GIF is a 30 year old format and its compression is not the best. That's why we limit it to 15s to avoid very large file sizes for our customers)
• max file size 1GB
• formats accepted: .mp4 and .mov
• encoders accepted: H264, ProRes 422 and ProRes 4444
• encoders not allowed: PNG, Animation, AVI, WMV, MKV, HEVC
